NMRI signs the Co-operation Agreement on Research with the Faculty of Engineering, NTNU_ 1 November 2023
NMRI (National Maritime Research Institute) and the Faculty of Engineering, NTNU (Norwegian University of Science and Technology) signed a co-operation agreement on joint research on July 7 of this year.
NTNU, headquartered in Trondheim, is the largest national university in Norway with over 43,000 students. NTNU is renowned for its research in a wide range of fields, including engineering, humanities, economics, architecture and medicine. NTNU is one of Europe's leading research and development institutions in the field of engineering, and it has achieved significant outcomes within cutting-edge research domains like digital twins for ship and ocean development.
NMRI is a national center of maritime and ocean technology research in Japan. It drives digital transformation in the maritime industry and ocean development in the country. NMRI and NTNU have a history of collaboration in the fields of maritime and ocean technology through activities such as the exchange of researchers.
Under this comprehensive agreement, NMRI and NTNU confirm their cooperative relationship and are committed to cooperation, including the exchange of information through researcher networks and joint research in the fields represented by the following themes:
1.Research on ship design and operation support system considering performance in actual seas
2.Research on digital shipyard
3.Research on ocean engineering
Through this cooperation, it is expected that the effective use of research resources and mutual utilization of results will lead to the creation of new research themes, increased research speed, and increased and wider dissemination of results.
